A trip from Zurich to Interlaken to Munich and back (by train). Suggestions?
I am an American from New York to Zurich for a holiday-7. I'm traveling on my own with a bag and a backpack. I'm trying to plan a route from Zurich to Interlaken to Munich (and return). Do you think I can do it in seven days? Suggestions? I want to make the train and trying to find a way to order tickets, hotel rooms, etc. Thanks for any advice or idea.
You are about to to see one of the most beautiful regions of Europe. The train journey from Interlaken is superb. Visit the website of Swiss trains, www.sbb.ch, for schedules of trains and on long trips. I think you can buy online TIX site. Be sure to stay there on the double-decker train to see the view. Also check out the site for trains from Interlaken to Munich. Is likely to land, take a ferry across Lake Constance, then take the train to Munich to Friedrichshafen on the German side. It sounds a bit intimidating, but ferries is very easy, and the trains are timed so you have plenty of time to transfer. Depending on your budget, I'm still at the hostel Balmer's Herberge in Interlaken. They a flag next to the hostel for older travelers. I also stayed at the Chalet Hotel Interlaken, Canton and appreciated. Balmer is more personal, however.
